I am trying to install Windows 8 on my 2011 MBP 15". I downloaded Windows 8 via DreamSpark and burned it to DVD and also loaded it on a flash drive. Problem is, when I boot from the flash drive it only boots in EFI mode, which won't work since the disk needs to be GPT and not MBR for me to install it and I do not not want to format my entire disk.

So I try to boot up using the DVD (which I assume is in BIOS mode) and I just get a black screen. I have burned it twice, once on my Mac and once on a PC (and it boots up on the PC). Note: I am using an external DVD drive instead of my internal since my internal is broken. I don't think this is a problem since it actually reads the DVD as bootable.

Any suggestions? Is there a way to boot the flash drive in BIOS mode? Thanks!
