I want to install it to an exrernal HDD, but bootcamp won't let me. The HDD is USB 3.0, so it should run fine, and I want a solution, not people ******** in my cheerios asking why or just telling me to go get another harddrive or suck it up and partition.

Hm... you could try installing OS X on the external hard drive, then booting up off of that drive, then making a Boot Camp partition on that one... if that makes sense. I'm not sure if that'll work though, and it's a bit complicated.

That's all fine and good, but when I restart my computer I just get a black screen. And can I delete the 20GB partition after I install windows to the external drive?

Yes if you use the built in BootCamp application and tell it to reclaim that space (after you backup any important data on the Windows partition).
