Hi. I was wondering if you can install a version of Windows Vista without the service pack one built into it. I am planning on getting the old Windows Vista Home Basic without the sp1 because it is cheaper to buy. Can I install that on the mac using bootcamp and then upgrade to sp1 after the installation? By the way i have the new macbook.

You should probably check out the Apple Boot Camp Support page at http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ to check out system requirements and print the excellent Boot Camp installation guide there.

The system requirements there show that your full version of Vista does not require service packs- only XP disks require SP2 or SP 3 to be used with BootCamp. It notes that prior to installing SP1 on a Vista installation, BootCamp 2.1 is required.
