instant handbrake not working!! urgent!!

So i am going on a really long plane ride and i want a movie on my psp for the plane. so i pick a folder that has a video_ts in it and start it in instant handbrake. after its done i check and try opening it with quicktime and it says the movie could not be opened. i tried ripping an actual dvd with regular handbrake and the same thing happened. WHAT DO I DO????

Codec problem? Try opening it in VLC. That will play anything.

i tried opening it in vlc also and it also couldn't play it. and i tried The Departed as a folder and as a preproduced disk and saw 2 with the official disk.
