Sorry this is not related to the iPhone, or it could be.. im not sure..

anyways, i have ATT. I have a very (possible) noobish question. Does unlimted texts cover Instant messaging?

im afraid that if i use IM on my phone it will count towards the internet. but a freind says that the IMs count on your texts not internet. is this true? cuz i dont want to go on AIM and IM, then it counts on the internet bill....

thanks for your time

Well your friend is the noob. Good question though as it can be tricky.

Any single IM app you use will go towards data, not text messaging, and since we have unlimited data, you can IM all you want.

Not everyone's provider has unlimited data. His likely doesn't, judging by his original post.
