I have downloaded about 3 different instant messengers:
- Mercury Messenger
- aMSN
- Microsoft Messenger (newest version)

These all claim to have the ability of video chat and using the webcam, however, none so far have done so and every time I have tried it has failed or cancelled and can't connect.

I would like to know if I'm doing something wrong, I have gone through all the preferences and sorted everything that I think is right.
I am using aMSN the most if that is helpful to anyone.

Thank you :)

aMSN should "just work" albeit a bit haltingly because it is not a binary MacOS X app. The fact that it is not working for you means that you are actively messing up or that required ports are blocked. We cannot know if you are messing up until we know what you are doing. Only you know if the required ports are open.

iChat works fine. Skype too. It also depends on which is on the other side. I mean, who are you going to videochat to? if you want to videochat with somebody using MSN Messenger, well that's sort of complex from mac, provided that also other newest version of Messenger for mac does not have video capabilities.
