Oh and another question:
If I have an iSight and my connected partner has a webcam on a PC can we chat?
What program does he use?
Summary of questions:
1) Instead of the iSight, what other webcam can I use on the mac?
2) What programs are out there so I can chat with an iSight, other than iChat AV?
3a) Can another person see me using an iSight, but he's on a Microsoft OS?

1) There are a range of USB, USB2, and FireWire cameras that come ready to work on the mac, too. You probably want to stick to name brands like Logitech, though.
2) These are most likely going to be the software from the camera manufacturer. A few options include CUCMe and a couple of others, like OperSource version of NetMeeting.
3) The PC version of AIM allows you to connect to iChat AV sessions being run on a mac. I can't tell you any others off the top of my head.

1) Instead of the iSight, what other webcam can I use on the mac?
Anything that uses firewire output, such as the ADS pyro FW webcam (www.adstech.com) and iBot from Orangemicro. Digital Video Cameras are also an option. To get USB webcams to work with iChat you need some sort of iChat USB plugin. Search for that on Versiontracker.com. You'll also need the driver for said USB Cam. Check ioexperts.com
2) What programs are out there so I can chat with an iSight, other than iChat AV?

Yes. I have an iSight and iChat AV and I vidchat with my parents while I'm at college. They use WinXP, AIM 5.5, and a $20 Veo cam from walmart (****ty ****ty ****ty)
b) If so, what program would he use?
AIM 5.5 is compatible with iChat AV
Yahoo Messenger (no audio support on the Mac side, therefore neither side gets audio)
iVisit (really weird, IMHO)
ohphoneX (compatible with Netmeeting on the PC, though very un-user friendly «uses IP address instead of a nick»)
