Sprint is actually comparing its Samsung Instinct against Apple's iPhone in its ads!!
it gets even worse... look what Sprint iss saying: Watch the Instinct defeat the iPhone.

Yup. Some tech blogs have already covered this. The Instinct will be released on June 20th, and most of the advantages in features that Instinct has over the iPhone will most likely be void with the new version of the iPhone.

This is Sprint trying to draw in more customers with a new product, much like AT&T with the iPhone; however, AT&T and Apple did not do direct comparisons and competitions, which I think is a flaw by Sprint.

But you can't deny one thing, that the current iPhone does get beat in those tests, but the new iPhone is around the corner!

yeah it got defeated in GPS and live TV categories but iTunes not connecting and slower internet?! that sucks and its unfair.

How is it unfair? The Instinct has a better radio in it. Just because something beats the iphone, you consider it unfair? Everything needs to be compared and judged. Edge is slower than Evo-A (which is I believe what the Instinct is running). Therefore the iPhone is slower to connect than the Instinct. That is not unfair at all, that is fact.

I've been downloading music off itunes and I've never seen such an error and I haven't used Instinct but iPhone is fast on wifi

The ad is comparing "NETWORKS" Not wifi and your ISP connection.

If you are on edge, you cannot connect to the wifi iTunes Music Store.

I read on Engaged that Sprint suppose to hype this thing with one the biggest marketing jobs they've ever done... about 100 million dollars.

I can just picture them doing all those ads on TV up until the point where tons of people know about it, then Apple pulls this new iPhone out that makes most of those ads obsolete. That would be some bad PR for Sprint.

I mean, three of those videos are 3G network related. "Fast Internet" I don't even have to explain. The iTunes music store working over 3G is very likely because Jobs talked about doing this with apps back in March. I'm not sure about the Mobile TV one, though. Doesn't AT&T use a separate network for that?

As for the GPS and video ones, those are up in the air.

I'm sorry, but the camera one is just plain stupid. I could take a pic w/my iphone faster than the instinct dude. I mean c'mon, they didn't even press the camera icon!

The camera one was about shooting video. So the one where it opens the Sprint page is actually 3G vs. Edge? I couldn't really tell but I didn't see the wifi icon.

I agree that the ads are pretty lame. Couldn't Apple actually sue them for that?

Instinct versus iPhone-INTERFACE DESIGN. iPhone wins!

Instinct versus iPhone-YOUTUBE. iPhone wins!

Instinct versus iPhone-MUSIC PLAYER. iPhone wins!

Instinct versus iPhone-SDK. iPhone wins!

shall I go on?

What a small screen.

Does that screen on the sprint phone for "music downloads" say Pre-teens?

you do konw that you compared an entire phone to a software development kit. if you are refers to the ability to add 3rd party apps IN THE FUTURE then yes iPhone wins. But as for the stuff in the ads its all fact, just exclude alot of stuff that make the iPhone a lot better than the instinct
