Instore stock options on MacBooks

Do the retail stores offer loaded MacBooks, or only the base models offered online. I knew when I bought my Powerbook they offered based models as well as models with edged out hard drives and memory....

I was able to get a memory upgrade at the local apple store.
Not sure about a hard drive upgrade.
