insurance claim for MacBook Pro

Hi all,

My laptop was lost / stolen whilst on an overseas holiday.

I am about to make a claim, and I was wondering what the insurance company does with the serial number?

Will they call apple and cancel anything on apple's end? So that way if the person who stole / found it could not use it, or log onto apple, get updates etc.

They will probably just report it as stolen. Don't forget to call applecare if you bought an extended warranty. They will refund the remaining amount back to you, if you ask them to.

Yes you can ask apple to refund the remaining applecare if you paid for it.

they will not mark it stolen to the chagrin of many. The unsub will have all the benefits.

They actually will mark it as stolen, and no store or AASP will service it, even if it is under warranty (original or Applecare).
