Insurance for apple gadgets purchased abroad

Hi all,

I've been scouring the internet for a solution to this but to no avail. Hopefully someone here can help out

I am currently living in China and have recently purchased an iPad mini and iPod touch (5th. gen) from the Apple store here. I very much wish to insure these as I do with all my gadgets. Usually I use protectmybubble.com to insure, but having read their policy document, I can see that they will only insure companies that are UK VAT registered, which obviously won't include these two items.

Does anyone know of any worldwide gadget cover that will insure me on products purchased outside of the UK? I assume that some people on this forum have purchased apple products abroad in the past and wonder how you go about insuring these.

It is my knowledge that you can buy a local "electronic equipment" policy from an insurance company in the place you live/are. But coverage and terms must be looked fully, to avoid problems and hassles.

I have sent emails to those companies to check their policies. I am finding it difficult to find option whilst working out here in China. Most UK policy wordings say something like:

"All gadgets must have been purchased as new from a UK VAT registered company."

Also, I would need a worldwide cover to cover me for more than the typical '90 days' as I am likely to be away for longer than that.

I guess I could go the uninsured route, but feels risky to me. Anyone else in similar positions? I'm wondering if there is an Internationa/Chinese insurer that will offer the "electronic equipment" policy you mentioned.
