That's good news, I'm kind of on pins and needles with my SSD. While I've not run into problems I've been reading those that have.

I just bought the drive today.

Is it possible to update the firmware after I've installed OS X on it without losing data? Or should I simply wait for the firmware release, apply it and THEN install OS X?

I have a 320 but I've seen nothing wrong so far...

Will the update require me to reinstall OSX?

Previous Intel FW updates were installed with a boot CD you can DL from their web site and it did not harm data already on the SSD.

what kind of wrong has it caused? i have the 120gb version and it was fine when i had it in my early 08 mbp.

If you are hit with this failure it will cause data on the SSD to be inaccessible and the drive capacity will only show 8MB.

So its the middle of August now, and so far as I can tell there's no patch yet?

Has anyone heard when it will be updated or a more definitive schedule other then "soon"

Edit:
I just found this update on the issue

Looks like as of August 13 the firmware update is in the final stages of preparation. Good news.
