Is this a known issue on these chips? About 1/6th of my screen on the left sometimes artifacts, sometimes the problem goes away. When it's happening, it's visible on boot right from the grey apple screen. Some background pictures show it more than others when it's gone away / very feint.

I found some other threads about 4000s artifacting on MBPs, and the problem going away during dynamic switching to the NVidia chip, but obviously no such luxury on MBA.

It's on 10.8.2. Will switching to Mavericks help or fix it?

For what it's worth, I've tried dis/reconnecting the display cable, it's not a display issue. When the problem is not there the display looks fine. With a dedicated GPU this would point to a BGA failure, but I was under the impression the 4000 was on the same die as the i5, so surely a BGA issue would cause CPU problems as well (which I can't see any of).

Appreciate any suggestions. I will try a PRAM reset and putting Mavericks on soon.
