Preamble: I purchased my MacBook exactly one year ago, upgraded the processor/RAM/HDD figuring it would do alright for a while. I've been a Windows user foreverrr, but am going to art school and figured that Macs were the way to go. Well, sorry to say, I really, really couldn't acclimate to the whole Mac OS X thing. I tried. :( Oh well. That's alright... Boot Camp! So I gave most of the 250 gigs to Windows as NTFS and am now running Win XP SP2.

Now, not gonna lie, I've never had a problem with Windows' functionality, and am much cheerier using it than OS X. However, one big, big gripe... graphics on the Boot Camp side.

I know it's integrated crappy stuff that they ship with this thing, but still. I recently tested a screen saver--port of Flurry, just for visual amusement--that utilized OpenGL (I believe... tho we both have the same DirectX 9.0c). My sister's five year old, 1Ghz, 128MB RAM, 32MB Nvidia gfx Dell produced a smooth, swift show. On my MB, I can see it "drawing" each new layer (not flickering, mind you. Like, some sort of strange and depressing attempt to make a stop-motion color blob). It won't run smoothly at all. After seeing this, I tried a few other simple tasks that utilized OpenGL and DX, and things are, frankly, gross. Could anyone tell me why? Sorry to look stupid, but I can run games pretty decently (not that that's my intent) on Mac side. But on Boot Camp, a screen saver chokes up?

It's not the end of the world, but I am curious as to why the computer behaves so poorly. Just DL'd the lastest drivers from Intel to make sure, and it helped about as much as... nothing. Ah well, sorry for the ramble. ;)
