Intel Black Macbook stuck on startup. HELP

My intel based black macbook is stuck on the white screen with Apple logo and the timer thingy going forever and will not take me to account log-in screen.

I'm willing to erase my HD. How do I go about resetting my macbook or clean install?

I need help!

put in your mac OS install CD

turn the unit off

hold down C key
press power button

this will make it boot from disk... you can then format the drive and reinstall

OP,
once you boot from the OS install CD, you could try with disk utility first (see if it finds something to repair).
