If you were looking to spend the least $$ on a new system you're building, then I'd say go for the AMD system and make sure its a decent board. I like the old Asus M2N-E board. If you can spend the extra money, then I'd say go the intel route. That will give you more upgrade options later (make sure the board is quad capable).
