Hi, long-time lurker, first-time poster.

Quite some time ago, I bought a G3 iBook (It's since been sold, I'm just providing setup) and I bought an Airport Base Station (802.11b "Snow", dual-ethernet) to go with it. The base station worked fine but when I sold the laptop, I had no need for a wireless router so I let my brother borrow it.

I recently (duh!) bought the 20" Intel iMac and my girlfriend has since gone on a crusade against "wires." So... she asked my brother to return the base station. He couldn't remember the WEP password, as he had it saved in his Keychain.

Ok, here's the issue. I performed a hard reset, the base station is viewable via Ethernet by plugging in to the LAN port and changing the IP address to the 192.* address, the name of the base station has reset to the MAC address. (All of this is in line with the instruction in the Apple kbase: 106602) Using the Airport Admin Utility, I am able to click configure but then it gives an error about not being able to access the base station. (I'll edit the post with the actual error message as soon as I can get home and replicate the error.) So I'm never able to update the software on the Base Station, hence never being able to configure it.

I've searched multiple forums in the hopes I could find a solution but as of yet, nothing. One thing I have not tried is to try all of these steps from a PPC Mac. I have a G4 Cube that's gathering dust but if it will help me out I'll hook it up.

So anyone got an idea?
