Hi guys,

My Intel 2020 Macbook Pro 13" keeps running HOT whenever I have a few tabs open just doing simple stuff like having multiple youtube videos running. I am frustrated because we pay a premium price for these things yet here we are!

Is there any way to fix overheating/ running hot issues?

Delete Chrome. The problem is that your computer isn’t overheating, if it did it would shut down. It’s running hot, which is one of the reasons that Apple shifted to its own chips. You can use a program like Macs Fan Control, but Safari is generally much more power efficient than Chrome, so that might be a good start.

Multiple YouTube videos at the same time?? What do you expect? I think that would tax any machine??

I am not using Chrome, I use Brave browser.

When I say multiple YouTube videos I don't mean running at the same time, I mean multiple tabs but only one video playing at a time.

Even if I have multiple tabs with normal stuff like online shopping, email etc, with a video running on only ONE tab, it still runs hot sometimes. The point is, I am not doing anything taxing, so why the hell is it running hot?

Same difference ;). They basically use the same backend engines.

They do run hot which is why Apple is moving to their own chips. I have a 2020 MBP 13" and now a 2020 MBA M1 and the difference is night and day running the same tasks with the heat and fan noise (the MBA doesn't have any of course).

You could also have an issue with your machine itself such as not having good contact on the thermals. In that case you would have to take it too Apple to run diagnostics to see if they can find anything. But I'd start with the software you are running.
