Looks like Apple’s sticking AT&T and T-Mobile customers with an Intel modem again this year. No band 71 for T-Mobile customers either. How will this affect your purchase or preorder?

I don't use T-Mobile since they suck unless you either A.) Never leave the city you are in that has good coverage B.) Only go to places with good coverage. Verizon works everywhere I go, so that's who I stick with. Were Intel modems an issue last time around? Didn't they just have slightly lower speeds? (Which never got achieved anyways by any US carrier)

Verizon has been clutch for me. Modems are irrelevant to my experiences. Coverage is key.

There were a lot of issues with the Intel modems, everything from call quality to speed. Just Google “Qualcomm vs Intel Modems” and there are plenty of articles highlighting those issues. Band 71 is being deployed to address T-Mobile’s coverage issues, but Qualcomm is the only company making a compatible modem for that band.

Just purchase the SIM free version as was with the 7 and 7+. The SIM free version will work on all carriers - not that I would ever think about switching from T-Mobile. :p
