I'm curious as well whether one of those swank new SATA II SSD drives will work in my +2 year old MacBook3,1.

I think both of our machines have SATA I interfaces... so the question is whether SATA II is backwards compatible.

I've been using a OCZ Vertex in my Macbook2,1 for quite a few months now. It works pretty well, of course in some cases it can saturate the SATA 1.5 controller, so I'm not getting the full speed of the drive. But then again, conventional HDDs won't come close to doing this anyway. I can safely say that I highly recommend an SSD even though the Macbook only has a SATA 1.5 controller.

Here's a random xbench I have lying around, it's fairly representative of the majority of my other results.

So no one here has a new Macbook white that tried installing a new SSD in it, is there??
