Looks like the iPhone 8(8+) and X will still be sporting Intel's old xmm 7360 modem (evident by the cellular not supporting CDMA networks). I'm guessing Apple will do similar as the iPhone 7 and throttle Qualcomm's modem so it doesn't exceed Intel's inferior performance...

(From Apples tech specs site for the iPhone 8)
  • Model A1905*
  • Model A1897*
Models A1905 and A1897 do not support CDMA networks, such as those used by Verizon and Sprint.

  • FDD-LTE (Bands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 12, 13, 17, 18, 19, 20, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, 66)
  • TD-LTE (Bands 34, 38, 39, 40, 41)
  • UMTS/HSPA+/DC-HSDPA (850, 900, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz)
  • GSM/EDGE (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz)

Does this mean CDMA versions of the iPhone will be superior? Should we all be switching to verizon? What does it mean!?

Ugh! I knew it! I can't afford this device outright. I really hope Apple and Qualcomm get along in the future. Intel has caused me nothing but problems in my 7 Plus!

Edit: and no band 71 like we all thought.

It means T-Mobile and AT&T get the crap, again. Those who want the Qualcomm will be forced to either switch carriers or wait a long time for them to sell unlocked.

I'm still dealing with it on T-Mobile. Lol. It's usable tho.
