As you know, there's 2 screens: 9c98 and 9c99

A week 8 macbook pro 17" unibody has a 9c99 screen

A week 7 macbook pro 17" unibody has a 9c98 screen

Can anyone verify if this is case?
If so, does the 9c99 screen built on a even number week and vice versa for the 9c98 screen?

To identify the week it was built, look at the first 4 digits of your serial number:
it starts likes this: W8908........ W8907......

To identify your display, go to system preferences, then displays, then color, click open profile, scroll down to line 13.
it should say:
Model: 00009C98

9c99 has a whiter screen

9c98 has a bluer screen

I'm trying to figure out whether the week 8, 9, 10, and beyond will have the 9c99 screens as standard

Then just calibrate it and make it warmer.

There doesn't appear to be a difference in image quality, so unless only one of these screens is giving us the defective purple lined screens, this probably isn't as interesting as you think it is. ;)

Um, no offense but I have to disagree. NOT that interesting. Do you see a pattern that means something?

The one I had was week 9... and had the 9c99 screen... whats supposed to be the difference between screens?

The serial number for that one was W890829E2QP

Hello, This is an unrelated topic from the one you are discussing but I am in the process of buying a new macbook pro from a website in Australia. The price they have quoted seems too cheap. I've asked for a serial number and the one they have given me has come on this website and this forum (from James Cole). Are you able to tell me if that serial number belongs to a computer you own? I smell a rat, they seem dodgy but I wanted to check! Much appreciated ....
