I need to buy some document frames, so I raised my Apple Watch and said, "Add document frames to my Shopping List," and Siri (on the AW) responds, "Sorry I can't help you with notes on Apple Watch." Huh? So apparently the word "document" triggers the creation of a note, but it seems Siri should be "smart" enough to realize the addition of 'to my Shopping List" means I intend the phrase "document frames" to be added to my Shopping List in the Reminders app. If I say to my iPhone, "Hey, Siri, add document frames to my Shopping List," she responded "Done!" and shows a newly created note containing one word: "fames."

Bizarre! If I simply said, "Hey, Siri, add document frames," I could understand it, but not when I add "to my Shopping List."

Have you tried “add item called document frames to shopping list”?

Just did, but no difference:

And if using Siri on iPhone, it still creates a new note containing the word "frames."

It's no big deal--I just manually entered it to my shopping list the other day. I just thought it was an interesting bug that Siri seems to be fixated on the word "document" and ignores the rest of the context.

I’m on 16.4 Beta 2, and on my iPhone 11 asking Siri to add document frames to a specific list works correctly - it adds document frames to the reminder list I requested it to. My exact words were “Add document frames to subscriptions list”.

I have also tested on my iPad Pro (on 16.3.1), requesting Siri to “add document frames to Shopping list”, and it correctly adds document frames to the reminders Shopping list I have.

So, it’s working as expected for me on multiple devices.

I’m in the UK, so everything is set to UK region on both my devices.

Ok, so now it gets even weirder. If I say, "Hey, Siri, add document frames to my shopping list," it creates a note (as described before), however if I drop the word "my" and just say "Hey, Siri, add document frames to shopping list," it works. Weird, weird, weird! Anything else that I've ever added by saying ". . . to MY shopping list" (or ". . . to MY [any other list name]" works just fine.

Try it yourself. Say, "Hey, Siri, add document frames to MY subscription list," and I bet it will create a note containing the word "document."

Very strange!

I’ve just tried it including the word MY in the request, and it still works as expected adding document frames to the appropriate reminders list.

Bizarre. Must be fixed in 16.4? I'm on 16.3.1. Here's a video using my AW (since the iPhone doesn't transcribe my command or Siri's response on screen for you to see) showing you the bug:

P.S. As an aside, I think it's pretty stupid that you can't create a note from Apple Watch. Seems like a pretty basic thing.

Sorry, I’d only tried it using the word MY on my iPhone which is on the 16.4 Beta.

Just tried now on the iPad on 16.3.1 and by adding the word MY to the request, it adds a new note to the notes app with only the word Frame. (Omitting the word MY from the request still adds to the appropriate reminder list.)

So looks like a bug that’s fixed in 16.4 🙂.
