Hi All.
I am having trouble getting clean sound out of my new iMac 24".
At the moment, the clearest (i use the term loosely) sound I can get out is using the in-built audio out (using rcas into my mixer and then to my monitors)... but that is nowhere near good enough for what i need.
I have tried plugging in my usb audio interface... an Edirol UA-20 (yes I know its not the best device... but it has worked for years on my old iBook). Unfortunately I get awful intererence (several types, but mainly interference from the hard drive i think?). I have tried using the best quality sheilded cable i could find... no change.
I am thinking of getting a Terratec Phase 24 Firewire audio interface (particularly because it is what i need as far as a simple but quality interface with balanced ins and outs)... (http://audioen.terratec.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=5) but am worried that I am going to have the same interference problems using firewire and don't want to waste money on a new interface unless it will fix the problem.
Any ideas or suggestions?
