I believe I have a bug in the phone contacts app. I've searched extensively, finding no report of this. If anyone can do me the favor of checking their iPhone on this I'd appreciate it.

I have multiple groups in my contacts, and I've always been able to create a new contact within any of those groups on the iPhone, by first going to that group, and then simply adding a new contact (when I see the group name at the top of the iPhone screen). The new contact has always been added to that group. I've also been able to CHANGE group assignments on the iPhone Using ABContacts.

The last couple of days I've noticed that, a few times when I've done this, the new contact was NOT assigned to any group. These particular new contacts can only be found in the "All Contacts" group. The problem has been intermittent for me, although I WAS able to reproduce it a few times, while being VERY clear about which group I was in when I added the contact, and very clear about the the last name sorting etc.

For now the problem seems to be gone. I'm on iOS 4.3.3, using an iPhone4.

(Note that using ABContacts to change group assignments after the fact DID work properly with those problem contacts.)

Has anyone seen this problem, or is anyone who uses multiple groups able to reproduce it now?

Thanks for any help

Pete
