In October 2010, I bought a 2TB Western Digital Caviar Green drive, which I used as my boot drive for about 5 months. As I remember, at the end of the 5 months, the drive was at about 75% capacity, when all of a sudden it became UNBEARABLY slow. All my files were still accessible, but even navigating between folders would require minutes of waiting.

So I switched to a 240GB SSD for my boot drive, wiped the 2TB drive, and re-populated it with all my old stuff. This worked fine, and speeds were back to normal. Until today. I'm at about 75% capacity, and again, the drive is unusably slow. I took it out of my Mac Pro and put it in an external USB enclosure, to make sure it wasn't a connection issue, and got exactly the same awful slowness. I listened closely and couldn't hear and clicking. I hope that I can (slowly) get all my stuff off of it and onto a new drive, as I did last time, but...

WHAT THE *%&$ IS GOING ON? I can't find anyone else online who is having this problem.
