For a couple of weeks I've been getting intermittent lag on macOS. Its the sort of thing where there's no beachball, but the whole system jams up with no keyboard input or extremely slow keyboard input for 10-20 seconds before returning to normal.
This is an M1 Max Mac Studio with 32GB RAM.
I'm running one Windows VM in Parallels along with a load of general productivity apps and web browsers, but looking at CPU and RAM, I can't see any issues there. I can see high spikes in read/write frequently which may correspond with the slowdowns, but I can't be 100% sure.
A reboot doesn't clear the issue. It returns within a few minutes. Have run first aid on the disk and that looks fine.
Any idea where to start troubleshooting something like this? Its so random and my workload hasn't change in ages so I'm genuinely out of ideas as to where to start.
