Howdy,
Just a quick question to see what others think of my situation...
I just bought a white MacBook, January 2009 release, 2GB/120GB/10.5.6 and have been using it for a little shy of two weeks now.
I had no problems getting it to connect to my 2Wire 1800HG combination DSL modem and wireless router; not initially anyway...
Twice in the past few days, I have been surfing away on the Macbook, only to find that I am no longer connected to the internet. None of my current browsers (the latest versions of Firefox, Safari, and Camino) will then work and, when I click the Airport icon, my home network shows up, but it won't accept the encryption key when I retype it.
So far, the only thing that has worked has been restarting the 2Wire device.
Now, I seldom, in the 2+ years I've been using the 2Wire, have any problems, at least not on my main computer (a dual-1.25GHz G4 running 10.3.9) -- but that machine IS plugged in to the gateway directly, via ethernet cable.
At various times throughout the past two years, but, it seems, more so over the past couple of months I *have* had to reset the router for housemates connecting wirelessly (on a variety of Macs and Windows machines).
Given that, would any here think that the problem (two router resets needed in only two days) is in my new Macbook and its wireless subsystems, or is it more likely that the router (in use everyday for over two years, and at least FOUR years old) might be having issues? Are there any known issues between Airport and 2Wire products? Could this be an "N" computer versus a "B/G" router issue? I'm concerned as I am preparing for a trip and haven't the time to get the notebook looked at, yet I also need to have the router running smoothly while I am away...
Thanks in advance!
Alex
