I was debating whether to get the scorpio blue internal 500 gb hard drive. I have a 2009 13 in MBP.

Should I just get it or wait for the 1TB? Anyone know when that is going to be available?

i have a march 2009 mbp 17 model - whats the highest capacity i can fit? Is there some autoformat thing - ie if i fit a 1TB drive, it only shows 500gb?

Anysuggestions for best highest capacity drive?

No. There is no highest capacity.

Do you really need all that space? Your computer is practically brand new. I would wait until you really need space and then buy. Unless you're already out of space, obviously...

yeh i know, just like to fiddle and buy new gadgets - im likely to be doing alot of video editing away from home, if i can get 750gb+ for it i may condsider it. ALthough the 320gb i have is 7200rpm.

Think ill swap my fw 500gb external for larger fw 800... any cheap 750/1tb + fw 800 drives out there? i use seagate for video editing - really excellent.

Western Digital makes it, I could have sworn I saw the drive itself on newegg a week or two ago, but I can't find it now. I think its the Scorpio Blue.

Here's the link from the announcement. http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10296034-1.html

EDIT: See also here for discussion on whether or not it fits in MBPs. Most people say it will.

Has anyone tried installing the 1TB or 750GB hard drive in the new 2009 13 inch MBPs?

I highly doubt the 12.5mm would fit.
