Hello everyone. I need some help with using my computer to fax pdf files or documents. I am aware that I can e-mail these things, but a few required me to fax them. My wife wants me to buy a fax machine even though I just need to fax something once in a while. I have a Power Mac G4 using MAC OS 10.5.8. My Internet, TV, and Phone connections are cable from Cable Vision in New York. My computer has an internal 56K V.92 modem on the back. I used one end of a regular phone line jack to connect to the internal modem and the other end to the phone line. When I tried to fax something I kept getting a message that said "Waiting for modem to become available." I cannot fax anything from the computer. Can anyone help me with this problem? A friend suggested buying a USB external fax modem and connect the computer to it, but I am not familiar with it.
