I am trying to use a program called Sound Byte (takes .wav or other clips for playback). If I hook headphones into the iPad (new) no issues. But the internal speakers won't play back the clips. SoundByte thinks it is a setting on the iPad but I can't figure it out.

Check the mute slider switch next to the volume on your ipad

Sounds like you have mute enabled. It will play fine over headphones but mutes the external speaker.

Ah, the other thing that can happen is if you rip the headphones out of the iPad or iPhone too quickly, it will still be stuck on the headphone mode. Try to reinsert the headphones and then take them out again. You should see the volume slider shift from headphone volume to speaker volume.

Bingo. What an idiot I feel like. Googling all over the place for this and so simple.
