Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum but it has helped me out a lot in the past and I thank you all for sharing your knowledge, but there is one thing I havent been able to find out.

(Warning, a lot of information coming up)

(perhaps I'm just stupid but I do have problems with reading to much information, could be dyslexia or that I'm not familiar with all technical terms etc.
So I'm sorry if this has already been answered before, but please don't forward me to another thread just try to answer as simple as possible.)

I'm a music producer but I've recently developed a hobby of video editing.
I have a 2013 iMac 21" i7 3.10 Ghz, 16 GB RAM, with a 1 TB fusion HDD.

I'm running Windows 7 using bootcamp (mainly using it for gaming, watching movies and surfing around) but now I'm using it to edit movies (specially frapsed gameplay together with webcam recording from my laptop.

I'm using PowerDirector 12 to edit my movies (in Windows), and the first thing I noticed is that the apple fusion HDD system doesnt work running Win7 Bootcamp.

I'm getting READ/WRITE 90 MB/sec in Win7 compared to READ/WRITE 300-400 MB/sec in Mac OS.

(which explains the lag when editing large videos)

The Question(s)
How much difference in read/write speed is it between an Internal SSD and an External SSD via Thunderbolt? Are there other factors involved that makes an Internal SSD faster?

(Regarding External Thunderbolt SSD's, how much difference is it between the brands?)

When I test my 600 GB SSD in my MacBook Pro (using Mac OS BlackMagic Disk speedtest) I get R/W 216-260 MB/sec which is actually slower than the 1 TB fusion drive in my iMac.
(It might have something to do with the age of the laptop (late 2011).

If anyone knows a list of all READ/WRITE speeds of different harddrives/connections please post it, find it interesting.

I apologize for the bible I've just written and I thank you all for your patience and understanding. :)

Kindest Regards
Jonas :apple:
