It looks like the new iPad 4G version sold in the UK is the same as the AT&T version. But as both support 700MHz LTE, does anyone know whether that means we'll be able to use a Verizon SIM in the US?

I mostly spend time in Portland, OR when in the States, and it seems that the only LTE there is VZW. I guess the iPad wouldn't be able to fall back on the CDMA network if LTE fails - but just wondered whether it will work on Verizon LTE at all.

Nope, if you travel in the US you'd only be able to use AT&T's LTE, as well as hspa/hspa+/dc-hspa on AT&T.

The "AT&T/International" iPad has LTE Bands 4 (AWS) and 17 (700 LSMH)
The "Verizon" iPad has LTE Band 13 (700 USMH)

Thanks for clearing that up!

Follow up question:
If I were to buy a Verizon iPad from the States, would I still be able to us UK/European 3G bands?

Np.. And yes, you could.

Both models have
GSM/EDGE on 850,900,1800,1900
HSPA/HSPA+/DC-HSPA on 850,900,1900,2100

So any 3G/3G+ type of use would be identical.

Only difference is AT&T having LTE Bands 4 & 17, while Verizon has LTE Band 13 & CDMA/EVDO fallback.
