Internet connection problem?

Hello guys,

I just got my macbookpro 15 inch today. This is my first mac, but when I connect to my home internet it is very slow at downloading. I usually get 2mbps on my desktop. I have verizon fios, but on the mbp I'm only getting 100-300kbps. I don't know what the problem is? Can you guys help me? Thanks in advance.

Your speeds seem typical for wireless. Is the desktop also using wireless? The speed will also greatly be effected by the source you're downloading from.

Hmm I was sitting right next to the router and all my other wireless devices are very fast. My desktop has an ethernet cable. It reached peaks of 500kbps. I guess it was the source. Thank you.
