i have a dell laptop connected to my home's wireless router. is it possible to ethernet my macbook pro to the dell and get the internet through the dell?

my macbook pro will not connect to linksys router.

You should be able to hook up the ethernet through the linksys router. I also have a linksys and it works fine with my MBP, are you sure you have your airport on?

yes, i do have my airport on

i would rather not have to physically hook my computer directly to the router

Yes, although, if your Mac can't connect to a Linksys router, you'll most likely have issues with this method as well.

What's the problem with the router/MBP?
