I upgraded to Lion a week or so ago and immediately noticed that while I could connect to my Airport Extreme wi-fi router, Safari would always return a "not connected to the internet" page. If I click on "network diagnostics" and follow the on screen steps, it tells me there are no issues. After a few minutes, I can begin browsing the web. I never drop my connection once I am able to get everything working. The issue returns every time I restart or put the machine to sleep.

Yes, I've searched everywhere, but most people are having difficulty staying connected to their router. I'm not.

I can ping Google's DNS and get a reply, so I know I'm connected to the internet, but for some reason the apps don't see it.

I upgraded to Lion 10.7.1 and that didn't resolve my issue.

Thoughts?

The $179 fix...

The ultimate solution appears to be buying Apple's Airport Extreme.

I know that's what you don't want to hear but that's what people are saying.

*Edit: Seems to have been fixed with the latest update*

Same problem here, had this only with Lion. First I thought it was the network, but I have this everywhere. And indeed, after a few minutes it seems to be working.
Also: firefox doesn't respond when it has no internet.

No fix yet, but I'm looking for it. Maybe with the new update...
(I posted this too, only response was "this is a known bug with Lion")
