I have issues with dropped internet connection and was wondering if it has something to do with the settings on my iMac.

In system preferences>network>advance>TCP/IP should I have configure IPv6 set to link local only or auto or man
 
Typically you would leave that on auto. But even with that wrong, you should still get a good IPV4 connection.
