In order to forward ports for torrents I set up a static IP on my mac. I have a DLink DI524 router and have a virtual server set-up with it forwarding port 10087 to my macbook pro over my wireless network. I set static IP addresses on the two other computers on my network, with each computer receiving its own. Then I turned off DHCP on the router and then put on WPA and have the pass stored in keychain. The Static was configured in network preferences with known working DNS addresses. But for some unknown reason around every 30 min. my wireless connection cuts out for a few second but then it searches and reestablishes the connection. Any ideas?

although this is slightly unrelated to your problems, a lot of routers will use DHCP with something extra that caches IPs with MAC addresses so the same computer will get the same private IP every time if possible. i know that was a huuuuuuge hassle for me with all the routers I had before my linksys with dd-wrt.
