Internet doesn't work - Self-Assigned IP

So I was using Safari and the internet stopped working. I'm using ethernet connection (with USB adapter). Under Network settings it says 'self-assigned IP) next to the USB Ethernet. I tried some things from the web to fix this but nothing has worked :( What should I do?
