i just got off phone with att and they say im getting 1.666 Mbps but really IT says im only going 179Kb/s why such a difference

Different measurement. There is a difference between

- bit
- byte

ok i get that they are different units but they still dont match up unless my math is way off

So you said 1.6 megabits or 179 kilobytes per second.

Not that much difference really.

Also, is one referrring to total bandwidth and the other the bandwidth of one app (say, Transmission or Limewire)? That could also account for the discrepancy.
