Hey guys,

Don't know if this is an approprieate question....

but I have a studio in Los Angeles that I sublet, it is where my main mac desktop is. The internet connection is an open wifi network but it is dreadfully slow, I usually need the internet for work (teaching) and I am willing to pay for an internet connection...

...what are my options for getting an internet connection in my studio? (i have a feeling the landlord wouldn't be too cooperative...)

I have an iphone.... tethering is a slow and unappetizing option.
what else is there?

Doesn't sprint have some device that is hooked up to their cell data and becomes a wifi spot?

thanks,
r.

The problem is LA is huge so you could have Comcast, AT&T DSL, Verizon FiOS ...

I believe those are all options for you with the exception of FiOS.

I don't know if this pertains to LA, but in Dana Point (Orange County) there is Cox, AT&T, and Verizon.

Too bad you aren't in Portland. We have Clear, Comcast, Qwest and Verizon. Clear runs on cellular, sorta. It is wifi, so maybe if they get that in LA (and if the signal can make its' way through the smog :) ) that would be the best bet!
