I have a question, or rather a problem internet sharing with my wife's Macbook pro.
We need to connect one MBP to the other via the 'Internet Sharing' feature so that we can both use the internet.
Seems simple, and we have used this great feature before effectively, BUT, let me explain our new difficulty:
Before, when we had this feature working, I had a *Huawei E160G USB Modem* that I bought from "Three" mobile, but the coverage was bad in our area, and I had to return it. BUT, the plus side was that my wife and I could internet share using this USB pen. We just disabled the PIN feature and "Heypresto" we could both use the internet at the same time! Thus, this saved us the cost of a USB Mobile Broadband Router at home.
Got it?
So, after returning the *Huawei E160G USB Modem*, we searched and found another USB broadband modem with great, fast coverage around where we live - the *o2 Sierra Wireless Compass 888 Modem*.
BUT,
Although this USB modem has great coverage, the 'Internet Sharing' feature does not work with it somehow, even with the PIN feature disabled on the software interface (the way we done with the three one).
We are thinking that there may be some hidden feature that prevents this from working, especially since o2 and Apple are so closely affiliated..
Does anyone know how we can fix this issue and share internet WITHOUT having to purchase a USB Mobile Broadband Router?
Or has anyone ever had/have this problem? And did you fix it - if so HOW?
We are both using MBP's and both using OS X 10.5.7...
Thank you for your time.
