Hello,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a network/firewall device that I can use to control the speed that specific IP's or web addresses can be connected at ?

While I find it awful for ISP's to try and control connection speeds between internet sites, I would actually like to do just that within my own home.

Maybe this seems awful of me, but I would like to encourage family members to use educational sites like discovery, nasa.gov, and so on. While discouraging sites like facebook, you tube, etc. I'm not looking to block these sites, just help encourage the internet to be used for more than just social networking. If he device could even allow these controls to be time based that would be even better ! (either during certain hours, certain rules are in place, or that after 1 hour on a listed site it slows down, something like that)

anyhow thanks in advance for any thoughts/help !

I know of devices to do this, but they are expensive. To help you in your search, Google QoS (quality of service) devices.
