hi,

didn't no where to put this so sorry if in the wrong place.

i have the isat pro widget, with everything about the computer on it.

it says my internet speed in is 249 -252kb/s.
i should be getting 2mb.

if i run a internet speed test it says my download speed is 1984kbps, i have tried this on many sites all with the same result. when i download something the download window says that i am downloading at 250kbps which is true of isat pro so why is it always this slow and why do these internet sites say I'm getting near to 2mb when I'm not.

thanks, matt

what speed site is this? its probably displaying your speed in kb/s (bits) not KB/s (bytes)… (also written as kB/s). there are 8 bytes in a bit so 2 Mb = 2000 Kb = 250 KB.

for example my internet connection is 1.5 Mb/s and i get a speed of 1277 Kb/s on speedtest.net which is about 160 KB/s which is what i get in iStat Pro.

i see, thats where i was going wrong.

how come it takes about a minute to download a 3.5MB song though?

not sure maybe your not getting your full bandwidth from the servers you are downloading the song from. what are you downloading it on? bittorrent app, Safari? what speed does it say?

sorry if i interrupted this thread, but this made sense, since I also get around 1900-2000Kb/s speeds using the speedtest app on the ipod/iphone. my speed peaks around a little over 300 kB/s for downloading..
