Hi everyone - I'm new here and could use a bit of help...

here goes:

I recently switched to a Mac OS X 10.5.8 and a Belkin router for the internet. Since switching, some of my most-frequented sites (skype, chatroulette, omegle, etc) have been lacking in speed. My video chat camera appears - and is great quality - but the other users are usually just a black screen and nothing appears.

I have a FEELING that my internet is now TOO FAST and I would like to figure out how to put a limit on the speed of the processor if possible. I'm not used to manually configuring internet so I could use some pointers...

Please please please help! I would be so grateful.

Thanks

I don't know what your problem might be, but the speed of your internet connection is hardly the fault.
And limiting the processor speed (of the Mac I guess?) will not affect the speed of your internet connection or the black window you see.

Maybe you can provide us with more details about what exact Mac you use and what kind of internet connection you have and how you connect to your router.

Identify your Mac and Mac OS X version using this 25 second video tutorial (3MB, .mp4, H.264)

Btw, you can check the internet connection speed via www.speedtest.net.

what specific things would be helpful? The only reason I blamed the Belkin router / internet speed was because these and other websites work perfectly fine on most wireless setups. In fact, my internet works really well and is super fast.

Exact router model, type of connection to the router, connection speed.
Also do you have the latest Skype version installed?

PS: Are the others visible to other video chatters?
