Hi,

I use internet banking frequently.

Is it safe to do so on an iphone 4 ?

Im aware not to do so on a shared connection thro shops wifi !

So far I haven't had my identity stolen :D Usually banking sites are designed very secure but if you have further worries you can always set up a VPN for use on not just regular networks but on insecure ones in public area's. Very miniscule chance anyone or thing could crack a VPN, can't say for 100% sure though since I've never needed to use a VPN nor do I know much about them.

I am in the USA and use a bank called Wells Fargo, they even have their own iPhone App in the App store. I can paybills and move money even between my personal and business accounts with ease.

If it were not safe, Wells Fargo would not offer the software/App.

it doesnt matter what your using to make the connection wifi 3g etc, either way your connecting to the banks encrypted webpage/data.

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 4: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

I have never had a problem. I frequently check my account and pay bills from my iPhone.

Make sure you use a trusted connection. Either 3G or wifi that you trust.

i'm sorry, but how do you trust a 3G connection? it's not like you can pick and choose which 3G tower your iPhone is connected to.

but as for the OP, online banking is safe

You can trust it as much as your home Internet connection, the ISP in this case your cell carrier probably can watch what you are doing but you are safe from other users on the same network which is not the case on wifi.
