Intuos 3 tablet - is this a good price?

To all,

I have an opportunity to pick up an Intuos 3 9x12 tablet for around $150. Is this a good buy? A slightly related question, is Intuos 3 way behind Intuos 4?

Its for a friend of mine for Christmas, hence why I'm wondering.
