Inverter or CCFL?

So my LCD on my 2.0ghz white Macbook went dark last night. I think that the LCD is ok because I can see what on the LCD in the sun. I can also see whats on the display if I shine a light thru the apple logo. So how do I know if its the inverter or CCFL? Any tricks I can try before I go buying parts? Also, the screen has flickered on for a brief second a couple times.

Replace the inverter first (cheaper), if no joy replace the LCD.
