I need to invert (mirror) a bunch of scanned photos. I can easily do this using Preview but when I drag the edited photo back into iPhoto it changes back to the original photo. How can I keep the edited pic from changing back. MC

Not sure that there's any way to do that in iPhoto.

The real question is, why did you scan everything backwards?

Thanks for your help.. I received some DVDs from a family member (73 yrs old). I applaud him for his year+ effort in preserving family history. He did scan some backwards:p The "real question" is why did you assume EVERYTHING WAS BACKWARDS?

Remove the originals from iPhoto > File Export > Kind > Original. When you have them saved elsewhere move them to Trash in iPhoto..
Change them around in Preview > Save > then put them into iPhoto.

If everything is OK empty iPhoto's Trash

Thanks! Your suggestion worked flawlessly. Now I can get my Aunts mole on the correct side of her face:D MC

Inverting photos

All I did was drag the original photo from iPhoto onto my desktop, clicked on that desktop photo (previewing it), tools>flip horizontal (or if yours was vertical click that one) and then saved it as a new pic on the desktop and dragged it right back into iPhoto....
