Is the 'original' in maximum coverage actually any good and worth buying instead of a case?

I had that on my 4, its is good but after a while it develops a yellow...ish tint so I got rid of it after a while.

Ah, alright - I'm currently using a standard plastic backed rubber sided case - but want to protect the front of the case. How long did it last for?
